Democrat Rep Claims Republicans Are Causing Immigration Crisis
(TargetLiberty.org) – The immigration crisis has been at the forefront of the national conversation for months. Migrants are flooding the border, and putting a strain on the small towns down south. A Democratic lawmaker is now blaming Republicans for the problem.
On September 20, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) appeared on CNN’s “The Lead With Jake Tapper” and discussed the ongoing border crisis. Rather than place any blame at President Joe Biden’s feet for reversing ex-POTUS Donald Trump’s migration policies, the lawmaker tried to blame the Republicans for the ongoing problem.
Jayapal claimed that when GOP lawmakers say the border is open, they are “ inviting more people to come” into the US. She said the country doesn’t need more money to fight the problem, it needs to fix “the legal immigration system” to give “people the opportunity” to come to the US legally. She said former President Donald Trump made it harder for immigrants to come to America and also eliminated aid to Central American countries that helped create economic opportunities in their home countries to stop them from fleeing to the US.

The congresswoman also called out recent moves by Republicans to transport migrants across the country. She said it’s a “good thing” that a sheriff is investigating Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ (R) recent chartered flight for migrants. Jayapal called the relocation efforts “disgusting.”
