(TargetLiberty.org) – In an interview with Republican Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, he stated that former Fox News host Tucker Carlson would be a “good addition” to the 2024 GOP primary race.

On Monday, Ramaswamy had an interview with Politico, where he stated that following Carlson’s exit from Fox, the former host could make a “good addition” to the presidential race. Ramaswamy joined the presidential race himself in early February.

During the interview he added that joining the presidential race is something that people should only do if they feel “called to do it,” but in his honest opinion Carlson could be “good for the country.” He proceeded to praise Carlson stating that he is “one of the smartest voices in the conservative movement,” and that he has always been able to determine when it was necessary to “defect from party orthodoxy.”

In regards to his exit from Fox News, Ramaswamy stated that this would leave a “thought leadership vacuum in political media” and that Trucker is “one of the great political thinkers and commentators of our time.”

Fox News announced that Carlson was leaving the network effective immediately on Monday. Carlson’s last show was aired on Friday. He first joined the news network in 2009 and during his time there had some of the highest ratings for the network. On average Carlson would have more than 3 million viewers per night, making his ratings much higher than many of the other night-time news programs.

Ramaswamy was scheduled to appear on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Monday evening, however, the program was stopped before that appearance. While it is unclear why Carlson has departed from Fox News, some question whether his exit is connected to the $787.5 million settlement between Dominion Voting Systems and Fox News.
