(TargetLiberty.org) – The Biden administration is busy pandering to gun control advocates, but even before any new attempts to disarm Americans, states are already pushing back. Texas is the latest state to stand up for Second Amendment rights, with a new law that makes it easier to open carry.

On April 15, the Texas House passed a bill that, if the Texas Senate confirms it, will scrap the state’s controversial carry permit requirement. The new law, dubbed “constitutional carry” by its sponsors, would allow any Texan to carry a firearm in public unless they’re banned from owning a gun by state or federal law. Although the bill was introduced by a Republican, State Representative Matt Schaefer, it was also supported by seven Democrats – including joint author Terry Canales.
Currently, over 1.6 million Texans are licensed to carry handguns in public. If Schaefer’s bill is confirmed by Texas senators, every eligible Texan will soon have that right. Texas would join 13 other states to implement such a law.
