(TargetLiberty.org) – A Republican senator has praised moderate Democrats for pushing back against the Biden administration’s massive spending plans, and urged them to keep resisting. With no overall majority in the Senate, moderate Democrats will decide whether Biden gets his way or not.
In a September 19 interview, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) praised two Democrat colleagues – Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) for opposing policies pushed by their party’s radical wing. Highlighting the wide and growing range of threats that face the US, from the border crisis to Chinese aggression, he questioned whether this was the right time to spend $3.5 trillion.
"They have demonstrated some real courage so far, standing up to the crazies in their party,” Sen. Ted Cruz said of moderate Democrats Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema. https://t.co/gDP5qBcLDt

Cruz described Biden’s plans as “the Bernie Sanders budget,” after the antique socialist from Vermont, and warned that it would lead to trillions in new taxes. Then he turned to Manchin and Sinema, saying they’ve “demonstrated some real courage so far, standing up to the crazies in their party.” He also warned that they’re under serious pressure from the Democrat leadership to fall into line, and that he hopes they continue to “stand their ground.”
So far, Manchin at least seems determined to keep holding out. On Monday, the media reported that he wants a “strategic pause” until next year before voting on Biden’s spending package. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) wants the vote held this month – but without Manchin’s support, it can’t go through.
