T-Mobile Admits it Has Been Blocking Text Messages to The Gateway Pundit

(TargetLiberty.org) – Liberals are lining up to condemn Russian aggression in Ukraine, slamming President Vladimir Putin’s regime for its authoritarianism and praising western values of freedom. Unfortunately, if you look beneath the surface, Liberals are using many of the same tactics as Putin.

In early January, news website The Gateway Pundit learned cell phone provider T-Mobile had deployed a powerful new censorship tool. If T-Mobile users tried to send a link to a TGP News article from their phones, the company’s servers would detect the link and silently erase it without a trace – the sender wouldn’t be informed the link had been deleted, and the recipient would never know it had been there. With a major communications company suppressing links to their website, TGP will have lost an unknown – but probably significant – amount of traffic.

When a TGP reader challenged T-Mobile about this policy, the company admitted it had been happening, but tried to justify it by pointing to a 2018 Federal Communications Commission ruling that wireless carriers can block unwanted text messages. The problem is the ruling was intended to be used against spam and other bulk messaging; it was never a license to censor private emails – and the fact only a conservative news site was affected makes it look suspiciously targeted. It seems likely T-Mobile simply decided to memory-hole all references to a news site they didn’t like, just like Vladimir Putin cuts off internet access to news sites he doesn’t like.
