Students Charged After Allegedly Planning Deadly Attack

( – Four Pennsylvania students have been charged with planning a deadly attack on their high school, timed to land on the 25th anniversary of the Columbine atrocity. The group allegedly planned to use guns and IEDs to assault the school.

On September 24, police in Dunmore, PA, announced they arrested four teenagers from Dunmore High School for conspiring to attack the school on April 20, 2024. The 15-year-old ringleaders, Zavier Lewis and Alyssa Kucharski, will face charges as adults; the juvenile system will handle the other two defendants.

The plotters allegedly made lists of guns, ammunition and other equipment to buy for the attack and researched prices. Reports say Kucharski, whose mother said she was obsessed with the Columbine massacre, had already started making Molotov cocktails and had stashed dozens of them under her porch. Fortunately, the mother of one of the group’s members saw their discussions about their plan on social media.

Dunmore school officials say there’s no evidence of any continuing threat now authorities have arrested the conspirators, but this plot was only discovered by chance because a mother looked at her child’s cell phone. How many others are potentially planning under the radar?
