(TargetLiberty.org) – The chief health adviser in Orange County, CA, resigned Monday night following negative reactions to a mask mandate she issued in late May. Dr. Nichole Quick ordered anyone going out in public had to wear at least a cloth face mask. However, it proved highly unpopular with both county officials and residents and provoked a strong backlash.

A recent county board of supervisors meeting was disrupted by protesters holding a photo of Quick defaced with Nazi imagery. At another meeting, a woman who claimed to be an attorney claimed masks dangerously restrict oxygen intake. She threatened to organize a protest calisthenics session outside Quick’s home, promising that people would “…start dropping like flies.”
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department has decided the harassment of Quick amounts to potential death threats, and she’s been given police protection. County Supervisor Doug Chaffee said the protests were too much for Quick, pointing out that she has three young children and specifically calling out the demonstrations outside her home.
