(TargetLiberty.org) – Newly-elected House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) who had previously accused President Biden of Bribery, stated that the impeachment investigation should not be rushed as House Republicans want to pursue impeachment now that a new Speaker has been selected.

Johnson cautioned that it was important for them to approach impeachment slowly and that this was the “heaviest power” given to Congress according to the founders. He added that he did not have a predetermined outcome for the inquiry but has previously slammed Biden and has even argued that this was a clear case of bribery.

House Republicans thus far have failed to show with evidence that Biden has accepted any bribes. Still, there are allegations that have emerged since a Ukrainian oligarch tipped the FBI. However, the tip was never verified.

The White House has repeatedly denied that Biden committed any wrongdoing despite the Republicans accusing him of being involved in the foreign business activities of his son and brother. The House GOP has also failed to show any connection between the President and their foreign business activities.

Johnson will now be taking over the investigation that former Speaker McCarthy launched in September. Last week, he mentioned that the House was also going to decide within the next week the action they would take in order to push the investigation forward.

On Thursday he argued that he has been pushing that due process needs to be followed exactly. This also means that they are going to be following their Constitutional obligation and taking action to ensure that the investigation is moved forward at the correct pace so that they can gather the necessary evidence.
