(TargetLiberty.org) – Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) took to Twitter on Monday, slamming a move by Democrats to withdraw police protection from schools in many cities across the US. Denver’s School Board could vote next week on removing police from its public schools, and according to a tweet by the board director, they have the votes to do it.

Minneapolis Public Schools Board voted to end its contract with the city’s police department following protests over the death of George Floyd. Los Angeles looks like it will follow soon, with one teachers’ leader saying “We must… defund the police and bring in the mental health services that our students need.”
Sen. Cruz says these proposals show the “Dems have lost their minds.” He believes the most effective way to protect schools from shooters is to have armed police in place. He has a good point – after all, mental health services aren’t much use at stopping an armed criminal.
