(TargetLiberty.org) – On Sunday former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) stated that he wanted Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) to enter the 2024 presidential race.
During an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” host Kristen Welker asked Schwarzenegger whether there was a possible candidate in the presidential race that would bring the needed leadership to the race. The former governor responded by arguing that currently, no other candidate apart from President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump would have the opportunity to win the presidential race.
However, when he was asked about who he believed could potentially stand out in this race, Schwarzenegger argued that Manchin would be a good option. He added that because Manchin knows the challenges of being a Democrat in an energy state he is used to being at the center and would be a “great force” in the race.
He added that he believed there were others who could potentially have a change, however, he did not give any further examples on this. However, he did say that without endorsing anyone he thought that it was necessary for them to allow space for people to emerge.
The former governor argued that because of how the political system is right now, Trump has been allowed to take “the air out of everything” on the Republican side, while Biden is doing the same for his own party. This was why in the end the presidential race would be between them.
Schwarzenegger also stated that were he allowed to he would love to run for the White House, however as he was not born in the U.S. that is not an option.
