(TargetLiberty.org) – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has been trying to keep the party unified despite the cracks that have started to appear in the caucus. Throughout his time in office, President Biden has found a strong ally in Schumer who has been the main architect behind some of his biggest legislative accomplishments. Even past the first 2024 presidential debate, Schumer has managed to continue being close to the White House and his colleagues in the Senate.

On Wednesday, he had a discussion with Biden, and since the disastrous debate, he has had several discussions with White House Chief of staff Jeff Zients, remaining constant in his support for the U.S. president.

Aides argued that Schumer is attempting to provide time for Biden and his campaign to steady the support for the President following the recent threats of his support cracking.

A Senate Democratic aide argued that Schumer is trying to continue holding the leadership line for as long as possible, but that it is hard to predict when the cracking dam will open.

On Friday, The Washington Post put out a report noting that Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) was attempting to create a group of Democrats who would push for Biden to withdraw from the presidential race.

The Democratic aide pointed out that when a Democratic chair and the party’s leader are going in different directions it shows the true opinions that people have. They added that it would be hard for Schumer, or any other party leader, to maintain unity within the party when it comes to Biden and that following the debate there was no way for people to be aligned with one another.
