(TargetLiberty.org) – New Yorkers, reeling from the devastation inflicted by Hurricane Ida last week, are lashing out angrily after a group of prominent Democrats toured the flooded area. It seems survivors of the disaster would have preferred some warning before the flood to a visit after it.
On September 6, Mayor Bill de Blasio (D), Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) toured the Woodside area of Queens, where nine people died when floodwaters poured into their basement apartments. One angry resident said, “I don’t blame climate change, I blame the mayor. There was absolutely no warning.” Another resident said he “had no idea” how severe the situation would get, and that officials did “absolutely nothing.”
AOC tried to deflect blame from de Blasio, claiming the city had needed more warning from the National Weather Service (NWS). However, the reality is that the NWS issued a flood alert for New York at 3:23 p.m. – but the city didn’t send out its own warning until six hours later, just an hour before torrential rains started to fall.
While deBlasio, AOC & Schumer came for a photo op, Curtis Sliwa took the time to speak with the people ravaged by the flooding. To understand what's going takes time, but that's what being Mayor of the best city in the world, New York City, demandshttps://t.co/OU1jOQifKE#NYC

While AOC criticizes the NWS, Guardian Angels founder and NYC mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa is actually talking to affected residents and learning what went wrong. Are the wrong people in charge of New York?
