Request Made for Andrew Cuomo's Arrest

( – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) finally gave in and announced his resignation on Tuesday – and now he’s facing calls for his arrest. It’s all gone wrong for the disgraced politician, but a GOP legislator wants to turn Cuomo’s downfall into a win for ordinary New Yorkers.

On August 10, Governor Cuomo realized his attempts to stay in office were futile, and resigned. Almost immediately, congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) issued a statement calling for his arrest on multiple charges. In a searing indictment of Cuomo’s record, Stefanik called the resignation “long past overdue” and demanded a purge of the state government to remove the toxic culture he allegedly created.

Stefanik said that along with the sexual harassment and assault allegations against him, Cuomo should be prosecuted for reportedly covering up the disaster caused by his policy of sending COVID victims to nursing homes, where thousands died last year, and for allegations that he illegally used state resources to promote his own book. She said, “Every New Yorker must know that there is equal justice under the law” – then called on Cuomo’s successor, Lieutenant-Governor Kathy Hochul (D) to “purge Cuomo’s abusive, corrupt, and criminal political appointees immediately.”
