(TargetLiberty.org) – On Saturday night, before his speech at the NRA Leadership Forum in Dallas, former President Donald Trump along with the Republican National Committee announced the launching of the Gun Owners for Trump coalition.
The Republicans have been big advocates for the Constitution’s Second Amendment which grants Americans the right to bear arms. On the other hand, the Democrats have been pushing for further gun control, which has resulted in gun rights often being one of the debated topics during presidential elections.
The news release notes that the coalition is aiming to fight against the Democrats, including President Joe Biden who are trying to destroy the Second Amendment. It adds that this diverse coalition is aiming to represent gun owners in the country. It continues by pointing out that no one is safe from the increase in crime rates brought forth by President Biden, and that the radical Democrats were allowing violent criminals to take over communities.
The coalition includes a number of firearm industry leaders, public advocates, and 50 Olympic athletes. The statement notes that former President Trump believes that all Americans have a “God-given right” to protect their families and themselves and that he would continue to defend those gun owners who abide by the law.
Across the country, gun owners have been campaigning to help Trump win a second term in the White House, as well as to win a majority in the Senate and increase the Republican party’s current majority in the House.
