(TargetLiberty.org) – Adam Kinzinger, a former Republican Representative, slammed Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan, calling him an “absolute hypocrite” over his threats to hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena. Kinzinger claimed that Jordan had only spoken up on the importance and sanctity of subpoenas in cases that suited him, while having voted against their enforcement in several other cases, including those related to Mark Meadows and Steve Bannon.
Previously Jordan had defended President Donald Trump during his impeachment inquiries, arguing that the investigations needed to be handled by the FBI and the Department of Justice.
The recent controversy is a result of Hunter Biden making a public statement on Capitol Hill rather than avoiding his closed-door scheduled deposition. Jordan, along with House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chair James Comer had threatened to hold the younger Biden in contempt of Congress if he did not comply with the subpoenas he had previously received.
Kinzinger slammed Jordan’s response, alleging that it related more to winning in the impeachment inquiry than seeking the truth or justice. He slammed the GOP for engaging in a “fishing expedition” to find evidence against President Biden, pointing out that their focus was on power rather than principles.
Hunter Biden stated that he was willing to have a public testimony, however, investigators have so far insisted on a closed-door deposition. Hunter has defended his father and continued to assert that his father had not been involved in his business dealings. The Republican party believes the depositions of the President’s son could provide justification for the impeachment inquiry that they have launched against President Biden.
