(TargetLiberty.org) – Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) has argued that he was most “disappointed in Sen. Lindsey Graham (R- S.C.) and Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) over their support of former President Donald Trump.
According to a transcript published by the Atlantic of a conversation that had occurred between Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of the publication, and Kinzinger during a conference that the Karsh Institute had sponsored. During the event, Kinzinger had talked about which legislators he was most disappointed in over their actions in the last few years.
Kinzinger claimed that one of the Representatives he was most disappointed in was former Speaker McCarthy. He added that before he had always thought that McCarthy had a “political soul” but that he has now realized that it is all about collecting more power.
He added that McCarthy was to blame for Trump’s “return” and even pointed out that there is a photo that was taken of McCarthy and Trump outside Mar-a-Lago shortly after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack. As he pointed out after that picture McCarthy had gone from “considering” a “vote of no confidence” because of the role Trump had played in the Jan. 6 attack to turning everyone against those Representatives, like himself, who had voted to impeach Trump.
He added that he was also greatly disappointed in Graham as previously the two of them had agreed on foreign policy. However, now he has adopted Trump’s beliefs despite the fact that the former President is doing everything that Graham had previously opposed.
