( – Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) has blasted those who have claimed that he is stepping down from Congress just to hinder Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) chances of winning over the seat he is currently holding for the 4th Congressional District.

Last year Buck had announced that he would not be seeking reelection and that instead, he would seek an early retirement. This announcement on Tuesday about early retirement resulted in a special election being organized for his replacement.

Boebert had slammed Buck for this move claiming he was “weak sauce” and arguing that this move was going to be a “gift to the Uniparty.” Earlier this week she had also argued that this was a “swampy backroom deal” by the establishment as they wanted to rig the election against her since she was winning by 25 points.

On Thursday Buck slammed Boebert for this claim arguing that it was ridiculous to associate his early resignation with Boebert’s attempt to win his district after she switched from her district. HE argued that he was not looking to give any candidates advantages or disadvantages in the race and that he was not looking to get involved in the primary election.

He further justified his choice for early retirement by stating that he had wanted the special election to overlap with the June 25 primary.

Boebert has argued that she would not be part of the special election and that she would be entirely focused on the state primary.
