Republican Media Dumps Trump

Former President Donald Trump should be dumped, according to calls from conservative media outlets following Republicans’ dismal showing in the midterms.

In an op-ed for “National Review,” senior writer Charles Cooke wrote, “It’s time for Donald Trump to go,” describing the former President as a “loser.”

Cooke dates Trump’s failings back to his race against 2016 Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, noting Trumped “squeaked past” Clinton, who he described as “the most unpopular woman in America in 2016.”

He then went on to lambast Trump for Congressional losses to Democrats in 2018 and losing to a “barely breathing” Biden in 2020.

Cooke topped his criticism of Trump by calling out the former President for choosing a “bevy” of losing candidates.

Trump dished out hundreds of endorsements during this election cycle, but where it mattered most — in swing districts and states — his candidates lost.

Yet, many believe that even with these odds, Trump still intends to announce his 2024 White House bid, something other outlets believe is a bad idea, preferring Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to be the GOP’s 2024 nominee.

Cooke described DeSantis as a “winner.”

Even Fox News, a notedly pro-Trump network, seemingly abandoned the former President throughout Election Night as GOP losses started piling up.

Instead, every time another GOP loss was announced, they’d pivot to DeSantis’ win in Florida.

Marc Thiessen tore into Trump on Fox News, slamming Republicans for failing to take over Congress in a Red Wave despite President Joe Biden’s low approval rating, skyrocketing inflation, and high crime. Thiessen floated the idea that Trump repulsed voters to such an extent that they looked at him as the alternative and decided to stick to Democrats.
