(TargetLiberty.org) – On Monday, Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-Mont.) announced his plans to bring forward an impeachment resolution against Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin over his failure to notify Congress and the White House of his hospitalization last week. Austin had been hospitalized for a number of days. The impeachment is also going to be targeting Austin over the response to the Chinese spy balloon that had crossed the United States last week, and the 2021 chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Rosendale is going to be introducing the impeachment article during Tuesday’s House meeting. He has previously stated that Austin’s decision to not disclose his hospitalization at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington, D.C., had put in danger the lives of Americans and had been in violation of his oath.
On Monday, Rosendale declined to disclose during an interview on The Vince Coglianese Show who the co-sponsor in his action was going to be. He added that this was because he had just returned to Washington and his team was now in the process of putting everything together.
He added that the impeachment resolution was going to be introduced tomorrow. As he pointed out it was scary that the Defense Secretary was “MIA” and that this just worsened the situation considering the conflicts around the world and the threats within the United States.
Rosendale has previously stated that he was considering running for the U.S. Senate seat that is currently held by Sen. Jon Tester (D).
Following the revelation that Austin and the Biden administration had kept his Dec. 22 hospitalization a secret and that Austin had not informed the White House of his readmittance on Jan. 1 following complications with the procedure, the White House and Pentagon have faced intense scrutiny.
