(TargetLiberty.org) – Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) is up for reelection in 2022. But recently, a Democratic challenger has recently thrown his hat into the ring. What could that mean for the Republican Party’s chances of winning back the majority?
On July 1, former state Rep. Charles Booker (D) announced his candidacy for the US Senate. He posted a campaign video online saying that not everyone in the state has always been free. Booker promised to make “freedom ring” for all of the people in the state.
You can watch his campaign ad below:
Let’s make freedom ring. Real freedom, from the hood to the holler.
We can start by taking our seat back from Rand Paul.

Reports suggest that Rand Paul is not going to be an easy senator to beat. He won by almost 15 points in his last election. However, Republicans can’t afford to take the seat for granted.
Every single Senate race is important next year. They usually are, but with the upper chamber of Congress split 50/50, every seat counts on both sides. Although Kentucky used to be reliably red, there has been a shift recently. The governor of the state is a Democrat and in the 2020 election, the Left even managed to flip a state Senate seat. If the Democratic Party managed to take Paul’s seat, that would put them in a better position to hang onto the majority. And after the 2020 election, anything is possible.
