(TargetLiberty.org) – With America still in the grip of the COVID pandemic, North Korea dialing up its nuclear rhetoric and political tensions at an all-time high, Congress has chosen its top priority – impeaching a president whose first term ends next Wednesday anyway.
Following Vice President Pence’s rejection of calls to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove President Trump from office, Congressional Democrats have followed through on their threat to launch a new impeachment process. In a highly partisan vote, Democrats and a handful of GOP renegades voted by 232-197 to impeach the president.

Of course, there’s no possibility this will actually remove President Trump from office before the end of his term. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said there’s no chance of a Senate trial before the president leaves office. Minority leader Chuck Schumer insists that a trial should happen, but at this point, it’s a political game – and a dangerous spark near the gasoline of the country’s political tensions.
