(TargetLiberty.org) – One of the Senate’s leading Republicans has just launched his re-election bid, as the GOP builds momentum for its campaign to retake control of Congress in 2022.
Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) held a rally on June 28 in his hometown of North Charleston, SC to mark the beginning of his 2022 election campaign. Scott, the only black Republican senator, gave the crowd a positive, upbeat message about the road ahead. Scott praised the achievements of the Trump administration, and went on to say he’s “never been more optimistic” about the country’s future.

Scott has been a strong supporter of the former president and used the rally to highlight some of Trump’s accomplishments, including the historic Middle East peace deals and the outstanding performance of the economy. During the rally, he called Trump’s presidency “the good old days” and urged his audience to help him “go back to the future, and that’s a future I want to go back to.”
Trump has already endorsed Scott’s campaign, saying “Tim will continue to do an OUTSTANDING job for our country!” So far things are looking good for the senator; South Carolina is a solid red state, and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) easily secured re-election there last year despite the Democrats pouring in huge resources against him. Now Tim Scott is planning to do the same.
