( – Former VP Mike Pence has officially joined the 2024 presidential race against former President Trump.

On Wednesday, during his campaign launch, Pence joined the race after months of speculations. During his campaign launch, he made a jab at Trump supporters and took the time to remind Americans that he was the one to have abided by his constitutional duty which allowed them to proceed with the certification of the electoral college votes on January 6, 2021, through the wi-fi password. All members of the press and media present at the campaign launch noted that the Wi-Fi password was “KeptHisOath!” A photo of the log-in details was also shared online by Semafor’s Shelby Talcott.

Following his presidential election loss in 2020, Trump tried to pressure Pence into overturning the election results in his favor. Part of his plan was to have Pence stop the certification of the votes which would effectively block President Biden from being certified as the winner of the race. However, Pence refused to abide by Trump’s request. This circumstance resulted in a mob of Trump supporters entering the U.S. Capitol building on January 6, 2021, where they attempted to block the certification process while shouting “Hang Mike Pence!”

Over the past two years, Trump has frequently criticized his former running mate for not helping him overturn the election results. In fact, earlier this year Trump placed the blame for the Capitol riots on Pence stating that if he had “sent the votes back to the legislatures” then they would not have had any problems on January 6, which means that in many ways Pence is to blame for the events that unfolded.
