(TargetLiberty.org) – On Sunday during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Dana Bash, former Vice President Pence who is running in the 2024 Republican primary argued that President Biden had done a really bad job of showing Americans why they had interests in Ukraine.
Pence argued that while Biden had said that the country would continue to provide aid for as long as necessary, in reality, it should not take very long. He added that the administration has avoided providing military support from early on, they also completely cut off military aid to Ukraine that had been ongoing during the Trump administration.
Earlier this month, Biden in a speech claimed that the United States would never stop supporting Ukraine as they are facing an invasion from Russia. Ukraine is not a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), however during this month’s NATO summit a long-term security plan for Kyiv was announced.
Pence argued on Sunday that even following the invasion, the Biden administration has not provided armor and munitions swiftly and they have not given permission to provide F-16s and aircraft. Around 3 percent of the United States’ defense budget is currently allocated to Ukraine.
During the interview, Pence pointed out that Biden will often give long speeches about democracy in Ukraine and how the reason for supporting the country is to help protect Democracy. However, Pence pointed out that the reason for supporting Ukraine is that if the Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion is successful then it would not take long before he tried to cross an additional borderline, which could lead to Americans needing to enter the war.
