House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had told then-President, Barack Obama, that in the 2010 midterm elections they were losing in the ballot boxes because of the “White male thing.”
The footage of the phone call between the two is now part of a new HBO Max documentary called “Pelosi in the House”. The phone call reportedly had taken place on Nov. 2, 2010. As for the filming and creation of the documentary, it is being directed by Alexandra Pelosi, the acclaimed documentarian, and daughter of Nancy Pelosi. The documentary is going to focus on Pelosi’s rise through Congress and on some of her crowning achievements including the Affordable Care Act.
In the phone conversation between Obama and Pelosi on November 2010, Pelosi reportedly had told Obama that they should not consider the results of the 2010 midterm elections as a referendum on what the people thought of the health reforms, but rather it should be viewed as evidence of White males being upset by the high unemployment rates.
Reportedly she also said that Democrats have said that they did not care about the health care reform, but instead were focused on the 9.5 percent unemployment. As Pelosi reassured the president this was all about jobs.
She then added that it is “the White male thing is just — that’s a dominant thing,” and that when people did not have jobs they got into a sour mood.
