(TargetLiberty.org) – On Thursday, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) stated that the claims of Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) that she had changed the impeachment inquiry proceedings were “hogwash.”
During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” when asked about McCarthy’s statements, Pelosi noted that it was ridiculous and that she did not know why they kept being repeated by the press. She then pointed out that at the time she had just assigned six committee chairs to help look at the facts and develop them because no impeachment inquiry should be based on facts.
She proceeded to note that for a few weeks that is what they had been doing and that for three or four weeks they had prepared the bill that they would bring to the floor. As she pointed out the House Republicans have thus far been investigating for eight months and to this day, they have not found anything.
Earlier this week McCarthy announced that the House Republicans would be taking the necessary steps to launch an impeachment inquiry into President Biden without going through the House floor vote. This decision has been criticized with many people claiming that it was a hypocritical choice considering his criticisms of Pelosi after she had similarly launched an impeachment inquiry into former President Donald Trump.
On Tuesday, McCarthy was asked about whether his actions showed hypocrisy, however, he argued that they did not because it had been Pelosi who had altered the precedent.
However, Pelosi maintained that the House GOP should not be putting the blame for their “impulsive” decision.
