(TargetLiberty.org) – A real-life American hero has the Democratic Party worried, as he threatens to unseat one of their congressmen this week. Alex Skarlatos, who shot to fame in 2015 when he clubbed a jihadist to the floor with his own rifle during an attempted atrocity on a French train, decided to run for Oregon’s 4th Congressional District this year – and now he’s neck-and-neck with the long-serving incumbent, Democrat Peter DeFazio.

DeFazio has held the seat since 1987, and since then he’s built a reputation as an extreme left-winger. He’s voted against President Trump’s ban on travel from terrorist-sponsoring states and opposed defense spending. Planned Parenthood gives him a 100% rating for supporting abortion and in 2006, he argued in favor of continued US aid to the antisemitic Hamas government in Palestine. He also supports higher taxation.
Skarlatos, a 28-year-old former Oregon Army National Guard soldier and Afghanistan veteran, has raised almost $4 million for his congressional run – significantly beating DeFazio – and that, together with his fresh approach and patriotic reputation, is paying off. DeFazio has won almost every previous race by a margin of at least 15%, but now Skarlatos is even with him. Will DeFazio be the only Dem watching his political career disintegrate on Wednesday?
