(TargetLiberty.org) – A radical congresswoman stands accused of ethics violations for accepting valuable tickets just days after she faced ridicule and claims of hypocrisy over the same event.
On September 13, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Met Gala, wearing a dress emblazoned with the slogan, “Tax the rich.” While this is a typical stunt for the self-described democratic socialist, it left a sour taste in the mouths of many people. Why, they asked, was AOC targeting the rich while wearing $1,000 hand-made shoes and a custom-made designer dress to a $35,000-a-head event?
And, to her boyfriend, too. That totals $70,000 free & clear of tax implications or campaign funding violations.
Sure, @AOC desperately wants to be considered a monied elite.

Now, an ethics watchdog has filed a complaint against AOC for attending the Gala. The American Accountability Foundation (AAF) is calling for an investigation into where the far-left politician got the tickets for herself and her partner. If she got them as a gift, that potentially violates congressional ethics rules. If she paid for them out of campaign funds, that’s against the law. AOC claims she was at the Met Gala as part of her congressional duties, which would exempt her from gift rules – but AAF doesn’t think the Gala qualifies for that exemption, because it was a for-profit event with no obvious political benefits.
AOC says she and Aurora James, who designed her dress, had a discussion about the experiences of “working-class women of color.” James has a net worth of over $2 million and AOC earns $174,000 a year plus a very generous expenses package. Their dreams eventually came true, but who really paid the cost?
