(TargetLiberty.org) – A prominent editor at the New York Times has lashed out at the paper with a highly-public resignation in protest at what she says is a stifling and toxic “woke” culture. Bari Weiss, a center-left liberal who was hired by the NYT in 2017 – ironically in an effort to make its staff more ideologically diverse – explosively quit on Tuesday, then published a hard-hitting resignation letter on her personal website.
Bari Weiss, a high-profile editor and writer for the New York Times opinion section, resigned, citing what she said was unchecked bullying from colleagues and depicting the news organization as a place where the free exchange of ideas is no longer welcome https://t.co/8LigAREIz5

Although Weiss herself is left-of-center and an outspoken critic of the Trump administration, she says her goal at the NYT was to publish articles by people who didn’t fit the paper’s usual left-wing mold. However, some of her choices have attracted furious attacks by the Twitter mob – who, in her resignation letter, Weiss claimed now have the power to set the paper’s policies.
Weiss finished up by saying, “Showing up for work as a centrist at an American newspaper should not require courage.” The ugly truth is that, as “cancel culture” gains power, showing up as anything but a far-leftist at any job is becoming increasingly risky.
