(TargetLiberty.org) – The COVID-19 vaccine is not currently mandatory in any state in the US. However, New York is launching a new platform that could force people to get vaccinated if they want to enter certain venues.
On March 26, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) announced the state had worked with IBM to develop the Excelsior Pass platform. The voluntary platform will allow citizens to enter their private health data, whether they tested negative for COVID-19 or received the vaccine, and show their info to private establishments to gain entry. An overview of the program on the state’s health website compares it to a “mobile airline boarding pass.”

The state claims the program is completely voluntary, but is it really? If a business opts-in and then denies a person entry to its establishment, it would force people to hand over their private information to random businesses just to enter a venue. It’s “like a vaccine passport.” That feels like an attempt by Cuomo to slide a vaccination mandate through without officially mandating the vaccination.
