(TargetLiberty.org) – President Donald Trump gave an exciting announcement Thursday about his plans to fix the economy. He released a new set of guidelines to help states safely ease up on their economic lockdowns. There are three phases states would go through on their way to normalcy based on the number of times they satisfy gating criteria and if a rebound is likely.
Phase One – For states that satisfy gating criteria – Vulnerable individuals should remain inside while those going out continue social distancing measures and limit crowd sizes to less than 10. Working from home should be encouraged and others could return to work in phases, when it makes sense. Schools, bars, gyms, and large venues should either stay shut down or practice strict social distancing. Non-essential travel is still not recommended.
Phase Two – For states that satisfy gating criteria a second time with no evidence of a rebound – Vulnerable individuals should still shelter in place while those going out should continue social distancing measures and limit crowd sizes to less than 50. Remote work should continue where possible and common areas should enforce social distancing protocols. Schools, bars, gyms, and large venues can re-open, even if at a limited capacity. Non-essential travel can open back up.
Phase Three – For states that satisfy gating criteria a third time with no evidence of a rebound – Overall suggestions of easing restrictions further, though still with special consideration given to vulnerable populations. Workplaces can operate unrestricted when applicable and potentially with limited social distancing.
While some are paranoid about the president potentially overstepping his bounds, this new set of guidelines is not a mandate. He believes in the ability of governors to look after their own states. As Trump put it, “You are going to call your own shots.”
Now let’s hope they do!
