Liz Cheney Just Confirmed Our Worst Fears About 2024
(TargetLiberty.org) – Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) is having a tough time in politics. Ever since she turned on former President Donald Trump, she’s been pushed to the fringes of the GOP and voters have turned against her. But, incredibly, she’s still considering a run at the White House.
Asked by @jonkarl if she will run for president in 2024, Rep. Liz Cheney says she hadn’t made a decision yet.
"I'm very focused on my obligations to do the job that I have now. And I'll make a decision about '24 down the road." https://t.co/yzEXu1E3Le pic.twitter.com/ywnMMpQS9m

Talking to ABC’s “This Week” on July 3, Cheney was asked if she saw herself as a potential presidential candidate. Cheney replied she’ll make a decision on a 2024 run “down the road.” However, with campaigning for the election likely to be underway by late next year, there isn’t a lot of road left. If Cheney wants to put herself forward for the Republican nomination, she needs to start soon. Unfortunately for her, it’s hard to see the source of her support.
Cheney has a solidly conservative voting record and was a long-time supporter of Trump. However, after last year’s January 6 riot, she turned against the president and was one of 10 House Republicans who voted with Democrats to impeach him. In response, GOP legislators voted to remove her as chair of the House Republican Conference, and the Wyoming Republican Party pulled its support for her. Now, Cheney is facing a re-election battle in November’s midterms, and she’s currently 28% behind her Republican rival.
If she can’t even hold on to her seat in the House, does she have a realistic chance of fighting her way to the Oval Office? She can’t do it without the support of grassroots Republicans — and it doesn’t look like she has it.
