Nancy Pelosi Criticizes Media for Not “Selling” Reconciliation Package

Nancy Pelosi Criticizes Media for Not

( – Our increasingly partisan media is a real problem; many feel that biased journalists are fueling the political polarization that’s dividing Americans. But that’s not always the case. Unfortunately, it looks like the House Speaker hasn’t gotten the message yet.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) spoke to reporters on Tuesday about the Biden administration’s stalled $3.5-trillion reconciliation bill, which is being held up by moderate senators concerned about its massive cost. It looks like the Democrats will have to make big cuts in the total spending, and Pelosi isn’t happy about it. Then, astonishingly, she decided the media is to blame for the bill’s problems.

When Nikole Killion of CBS News asked Pelosi if she could have done a better job of selling the bill, the 81-year-old Speaker lashed back with, “Well, I think you all could do a better job of selling it, to be very frank with you.” She criticized journalists for not emphasizing the new range of entitlements the bill would provide, as though they should be promoting new legislation instead of simply reporting on it.

If the media didn’t sell the spending plans, so what? That’s not their job, that’s Pelosi’s job – but she’s failed. Is that why she’s so angry?
