(TargetLiberty.org) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is working hard to make sure the investigation into the January 6 Capitol riot blames former President Donald Trump. She’s now gaming the rules to let herself hand-pick the Republican members of the committee – and a handful of GOP renegades are cooperating with her.
Last week, Pelosi used her powers as Speaker to veto two of the five Republican picks for the committee – the maximum number House rules allow her to veto. In protest, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) withdrew the entire slate of Republican candidates until the two are reinstated, but instead, Pelosi began inviting anti-Trump Republicans. Initially, Pelosi only appointed Liz Cheney (R-WY), who has already faced GOP sanctions for her constant attacks on Trump. Now, Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), another never-Trumper, has joined Cheney on the investigation committee.
Kevin McCarthy should be stronger in taking action against Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney.

Many Republicans are already questioning why we need another probe into the riots anyway. Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) believes it’s a strategy to keep Trump in the news through the 2022 elections, so the spotlight doesn’t spend too much time on President Joe Biden and his increasingly feeble performance. If that’s really what’s going on, Pelosi is searching under every rock to make sure the news about Trump is as negative as possible.
