( – Meghan McCain took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to blast former Fox News host Tucker Carlson for having spoken positively about Russian President Vladimir Putin during an interview from earlier this month.

McCain’s remarks had come on the same day that 47-year-old Alexei Navalny, the chief rival of Putin, had been discovered dead at a Russian prison. McCain, who is the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), argued in her post that Tucker had created political propaganda for Russia. She added that he publicly remarked that “‘leaders kill people’” and now Putin had “murdered Navalny” who is known as his most vocal opposition.

She then pointed out that this was something that Americans should not be forgetting.

Carlson, following the news of Navalny’s death, argued that there was no “decent person” that would actually defend what had happened to him. He added in a statement to The Daily Mail that it was “horrifying.”

Putin during the interview with Carlson had pushed a lot of propaganda regarding his country’s invasion of Ukraine and even attacked the United States. Carlson in his own comments argued that Moscow was “so much nicer” than any U.S. citizen. He has also been criticized for having provided Putin with a platform.

McCain also shared former President Obama’s statement about Navalny’s death, as he had argued that Navalny had been a “fearless advocate” who had died without folding to the tyranny that he was standing up against. In his post on Friday, Obama added that Navalny had fought corruption and had acted as an inspiration to millions of people.
