Meet the Man Who’s Dedicated to Fighting the American Drug Crisis

( – In 2019, Alexandra Capelouto came home from Arizona State University on Christmas break and died from ingesting a drug she purchased laced with fentanyl. She was just 20 years old. Now, her father is lobbying Congress to address the source of the drug making its way across the United States’ southern border.

He wants the government to take action and prevent the laced pills pushed by Mexican drug cartels from getting into the hands of Americans in the US and killing more people like his daughter.

He recently attended a roundtable discussion with Representatives Ken Calvert (R-CA) and Darrell Issa (R-CA), where he relayed Alexandra’s story of attempting to treat her own depression and insomnia with poisoned pills manufactured in China and passed from Mexico to the US.

According to Capelouto, border patrol and other law enforcement only seize about 10% of the total pills coming across the border. He asked why the Biden administration hasn’t crossed the border into Mexico to address the “terrorists” head-on.

He also pointed out the United States was quick to sanction Russia for invading Ukraine but continually fails to sanction Mexico for their drug cartels that are killing countless Americans every year here at home.
