( – On Sunday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that he would be dropping out of the presidential race. Following his announcement former President Donald Trump congratulated him for his “great campaign” in the 2024 presidential race.

In his announcement of his campaign being suspended on X, formerly known as Twitter, DeSantis argued that it had become clear to him that the majority of GOP voters wanted to see Trump have another chance. He added that they had seen his presidency be “stymied by relentless resistance” and how the Democrats had unlawfully attacked him.

During a campaign event in Rochester, N.H., ahead of the 2024 presidential primary, Trump praised DeSantis for doing “a very good job” in his campaign and stated that he was looking forward to working with DeSantis in order for them to beat President Biden.

Fox News Kayleigh McEnany noted regarding Trump’s remarks that this “conciliatory” tone is the one that he needed to adopt for the next few months if he wanted to win against Biden in November. McEnany pointed out that she thinks Trump would get the support of DeSantis voters in both the primary and the general election.

However, she argued that what could potentially be a challenge for Trump is to win the support of the voters of former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley, as well as winning over independents. This is why she argued that his vice presidential pick was going to be so crucial.

During “The Big Weekend Show” she pointed out that he needed to select as his running mate someone who would help bring in that bloc as he thinks that the conservative base is going to come home, “rain or shine.” She added that they needed the independent and suburban women on board and that this was the tone that they needed to have.
