(TargetLiberty.org) – The Washington Post editorial board has blasted President Biden over his lack of press conferences. In an op-ed titled “Biden no longer does press conferences. That’s not acceptable,” the board proceeds to point out that in 2023 Biden has not had a single solo news conference. They further add that he has had two joint news conferences during meetings with foreign leaders.

In the op-ed, the board proceeds to criticize Biden for avoiding reporters and for not interacting with the media as much as previous presidents had. In fact, they point out that in the last century, there were only two Presidents who had fewer news conferences than Biden, and those were Presidents Richard M. Nixon and Ronald Reagan.

The board also aired out their grievances about Biden’s behavior when he does appear before the press, pointing out that much like he did on Monday when he appeared along with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, he usually walks off and does not respond to any of the questions that the press has.

The White House however has repeatedly claimed that this is not the case and that the President will often address questions from the media in informal settings. This was also something that Biden himself joked about during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner when he stated that “This dinner sums up my first two years in office. I’ll talk for 10 minutes, take zero questions and cheerfully walk away.”

In the op-ed, the board argues that the White House had previously promised transparency but instead, they are shutting out the press. They add that for Biden, giving more press conferences could help increase the percentage of Americans who believe that can still complete his job as the President.
