(TargetLiberty.org) – Court filings this week disclosed a troubling message aimed at House Speaker Kevin McCarthy by Taylor Taranto, a 37-year-old previously apprehended for his part in the Capitol riot of January 6, 2021. This information was presented by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C., following an FBI examination of Taranto’s regular online activity due to his participation in the riot.
On a live stream dated June 28, 2023, Taranto ominously declared, “McCarthy, we’re coming for you,” adding that nothing could “avert the impending occurrence.” The intent behind Taranto’s words remains unclear at this time.
Taranto’s most recent arrest occurred close to the Washington, D.C. home of former President Barack Obama. The Washington D.C. Metro Police added that Taranto had previously been detained on a “Fugitive from Justice” charge, thanks to an arrest warrant executed in the 2400 block of Kalorama Road.
Upon his apprehension, the police discovered Taranto was carrying a machete, a pair of firearms, and 400 rounds of ammunition. The court filings highlighted that, during his live stream, Taranto hinted at a plan to detonate his vehicle at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. He mentioned a detonator and implied a “solo mission”, clarifying that he could not be near the vehicle when it exploded because it was self-driving.
The Washington D.C. Metro Police confirmed the use of their “Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team” to perform a sweep of the vehicle near the location of Taranto’s arrest.
