(TargetLiberty.org) – On Wednesday Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) during an appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity” spoke up against the indictment of former President Donald Trump in connection to his attempts to stay in the White House following the 2020 presidential election. During the interview, he also claimed that the prosecutor’s attempts were completely politically motivated.
Graham said during the interview that they were trying to make challenging the results of the election a crime that is specific to Trump and that while Democrats are allowed to make claims of being cheated the Republicans did not have such a right. He further argued that as a Republican making such a claim will mean that they are going to attempt to throw you in jail.
The senator also reiterated one of the arguments that Trump and his legal team have made about how it is impossible for Trump to be fairly trialed in a district that voted against him in the 2020 presidential election. He then proceeded to downplay the reason for the indictment by arguing that it was just because Trump had encouraged people to watch a network show regarding the presidential election.
Trump’s indictment in Fulton County, Ga., is the result of his alleged attempts to overturn the presidential election results in Georgia. The indictment was first unveiled on Monday, and along with other charges, Trump and his 18 co-defendants are facing racketeering charges.
Earlier this month, Trump was also indicted in a federal case related to his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.
