Colleges Are Warned To Stop Radically Segregating Graduations
(TargetLiberty.org) – US universities are the epicenter of the woke ideology sweeping the world. Now the inevitable backlash is reaching them. A civil rights lawyer has told two colleges their special programs and events for minorities are actually illegal under anti-segregation laws.

Last month, Peter Kirsanow, a civil rights attorney and a member of the US Commission on Civil Rights, wrote to California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA, to warn them they’re violating the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Cal Poly plans to hold nine separate graduation ceremonies next month, splitting its students on racial, gender, and religious grounds. The “cultural commencement ceremonies” include events for black, Asian, Jewish and LGBT students, but of course none for straight white ones. Now Kirsanow has reminded the school “that separating students based on race or ethnicity remains illegal in 2022.”
Kirsanow has also written to Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, IL, which has created a whole separate academic program for “black male-identifying students” which will be run by “dedicated black faculty and staff.” He reminded Oakton that racial segregation is illegal in any federally-funded program or activity, and also the exclusion of women from the new program is probably a Title IX violation.
A black Republican first appointed by President George W. Bush, Kirsanow has served on the Civil Rights Commission since 2001. On Monday, his office confirmed neither college has yet to respond to his letters.
