Judge Mizelle is a graduate of the University of Florida’s Fredric G Levin College of Law. She’s also an admirer, and perhaps a protege, of Justice Clarence Thomas, the longest-serving member of the Supreme Court, for whom she clerked from 2018 to 2019.
This January, she jointly taught a course with Judge Thomas at her old law school, where she’s an adjunct professor. Since graduation, Mizelle has worked in the Department of Justice, as a law clerk in the DC circuit and as an associate for a Miami-based law firm. Despite being only 33, she brings a wide range of legal experience to her role.
Mizelle is the youngest judge appointed by President Trump, but not the youngest ever. Jasmine Twitty became a municipal court judge in Easley, South Carolina, at the age of 25.
