Jussie Smollett DA “Mishandled Case” – Still No Justice Served

Jussie Smollett DA

(TargetLiberty.org) – The special prosecutor investigating the bungled Jussie Smollett case has ruled the state attorney who investigated the actor for faking an assault on himself abused her discretion to get Smollett off – but she won’t face criminal charges. Smollett managed to get the charges dropped in exchange for 15 hours of community service and the forfeiture of his $10,000 bond, but special prosecutor Dan Webb says the case was mismanaged by Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx and her team.

According to Webb, the deal let Smollett avoid pleading guilty or admitting any wrongdoing despite his effectively being fined $10,000. Webb said there was no justification to strike a deal and drop the charges, because there was solid evidence Smollett had faked the alleged crime. Amazingly, the actor was able to get away with stating he was completely innocent.

Webb outlined several more violations committed by Foxx and her staff, including working with Smollett’s sister and allowing his defense team to help write the statement of dismissal. However, he stopped short of finding Foxx guilty of any criminal offense – and she won’t be sacked. Since she took office in 2017, Foxx has dismissed almost a third of felony cases seen by her office, 35% higher than her predecessor, and it seems nobody has the appetite to make her do her job.
