(TargetLiberty.org) – On Monday, Sen. Joe Manchin (I-W.Va.) announced that he would not be running for the White House, putting an end to the speculations that he might seek to win the Democratic presidential nomination following President Biden’s Sunday announcement that he was dropping out of the race.
In an appearance on “CBS Mornings,” Manchin stated that he was not running for the Oval Office and that this was not something that he needed in his life. He continued by stating that he wanted to make it clear that he was not going to be a candidate for the White House.
These remarks came only a day after the reports that wanted him considering reregistering in the presidential race to run against Vice President Kamala Harris. Biden after dropping out of the race announced that he was endorsing Harris to be his replacement.
However, Manchin did note that a mini-primary should take place and argued that he found it unbelievable that such a process was not going to be taking place. He added that people were “looking in the middle” and that while they would like to see a three-week primary process it does not appear like they will get that. He pointed out that no one else was going to call for such a process and that they would all argue that the party is falling behind and they need to just “get in line” which is something he disagrees with.
Manchin pointed out that there will be many topics that are worth talking about and noted that border security is very important.
