(TargetLiberty.org) – The White House announced that they would be launching an initiative with a focus on women’s health research, which would be led by the White House Gender Policy Council and First Lady Jill Biden.

President Biden will reportedly have multiple agencies send in their recommendations for advancing women’s health research within the next month and a half. The initiative will focus on pinpointing which areas could benefit from additional investments, including research for heart attacks in women and menopause. The initiative is also going to be focused on getting the private sector and philanthropic leaders involved in the plan.

Carolyn Mazure, a Yale School of Medicine professor in women’s health research, psychiatry, and psychology will be the initiative’s chair. She previously established at the Yale Center a Women’s Health Research initiative and has worked at the National Institutes of Health.

In a recent call with reporters, Jill Biden revealed that the initiative started after a conversation with Maria Shriver over the need for additional research into women’s health. She also thanked Shriver for bringing this matter to their attention and noted that Shriver was going to be one of her advisers in the initiative.

During the call with reporters Shriver pointed out the importance of what they had just announced.

In a different statement, the first lady noted that the initiative was essential for providing solutions to many important questions relating to women’s health. She added that every woman she knows has at least once left the doctor’s office with more questions than answers which is unacceptable.
