An ‘Udder’ Miracle: Mom Donates Gallons Of Breast Milk As Formula Shortages Grip Nation
(TargetLiberty.org) – Parents across the United States have been struggling to find baby formula amidst a severe shortage throughout the country. On May 14, a mom from Iowa responded to the crisis by donating a total of 45 gallons of breast milk to help other moms and babies in need. She made the donation to the Mother’s Milk Bank of Iowa, an accredited institution that collects and distributes the food to mothers for their infants.
Andrea Heidenreich is a regular donor who considers herself an overproducer, so she shares her extra with others.

Although there are empty shelves nationwide, Iowa is currently the sixth-worst state in the country hit by the tragedy, as their supply of baby formula is down 50%. Considering the dire circumstances, Heidenreich decided to “help other parents” and their little ones by stepping up production and donations beyond her typical production.
Mother’s Milk Bank of Iowa reported many other mothers are taking the initiative to do the same, as they’ve seen an increase in donations since the crisis began. A company spokesperson called the women “remarkable and generous.”
The federal government is also working to address the problem by invoking a production act and working on congressional legislation.
