(TargetLiberty.org) – On Tuesday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis pushed for Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., a “Squad” member, to be deported from the country. He noted that Omar needed to be expelled from the House and have her citizenship revoked following her recent speech.

Omar delivered the speech on Jan. 27, and it quickly went viral as many people have argued that she was placing the interest of Somalis above the interests of Americans. In the clip, she is shown reassuring her constituents that she would be using her position in Congress and influence in order to ensure that the breakaway Republic of Somaliland was not going to be entering a sea-access deal with Ethiopia.

The clip with a translation was shared by DeSantis. In the clip, Omar is seen telling the crowd that the United States is a country where one Somali daughter is in Congress to represent the interests of her people. She added that for as long as she remains in Congress she would make sure that Somalia would never be in danger and that Ethiopia and others would not be able to steal the country’s waters.

The clip quickly led to Omar receiving a lot of backlash as many critics have slammed the Democratic lawmaker as being more loyal to the country that she was born in rather than to the United States.

On Tuesday in his post on X, formerly known as Twitter, DeSantis called for Omar to be expelled from Congress and then denaturalized in order for her to be deported.
