(TargetLiberty.org) – On Tuesday, Virginia’s House of Delegates voted to make the sale of “assault weapons,” including AR-15-style rifles, illegal. The bill still has to make it through the Senate and get the signature of the governor.
The whole drama makes you wonder: Could one of these weapons bans become a national problem?
The answer is a resounding yes.
Hours after the weapons ban vote took place, the New Hampshire primary results came rolling in. The winner of the Democratic race was Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT). That’s how an “assault” weapons ban can happen.
If (big if) Sanders were to win the primary and beat President Donald Trump in the general election, he has already said he wants to pass a ban. Don’t comfort yourselves in the fact that Republicans control the Senate because that doesn’t mean they will hold it. This is politics; anything can happen.
The only way to prevent it from happening is by voting for candidates who have strong backgrounds defending Second Amendment rights.
