(TargetLiberty.org) – Over 50 House legislators have called on the Pentagon to help Israel replenish its defense systems after recent Palestinian rocket attacks. The bipartisan move is a gesture of support for a key US ally – but could cause tension in the Democratic Party.

On June 2, a bipartisan group of 55 representatives sent a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin calling for the US to stand by its “ironclad commitment” to Israel’s security. The group was led by Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) in a move that’s likely to annoy his party’s left-wing, some of whom have launched shocking verbal attacks on Israel since the terrorist group Hamas started its rocket bombardment last month.
The letter called for US assistance in refilling Israel’s stock of interceptor missiles for the Iron Dome system, a defensive system that protects Israeli cities from rocket attack. President Biden supports US help with Iron Dome, but radicals like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and her notorious “Squad” have called for the US to cut military aid to the Jewish state.
