(TargetLiberty.org) – According to some reports, more than a dozen Democratic lawmakers did not attend President Biden’s speech at a Maryland retreat in favor of attending a Joni Mitchell concert on Wednesday night.

During his speech at the House Democratic Caucus Issues Conference in Baltimore, Biden focused on the successes of his administration speaking to a room full of Democrats. However, while Biden was giving his speech, many Democratic lawmakers had been watching Mitchell receive the Library of Congress’ Gershwin Prize at D.A.R. Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.

According to a Punchbowl News report, Democratic Reps. Maxwell Frost of Florida, Earl Blumenauer of Oregon, Steve Cohen of Tennessee, Dan Kildee of Michigan, Mark Takano of California, Andy Kim of New Jersey, Katie Porter of California, Pramila Jayapal of Washington, Lloyd Doggett of Texas, Hillary Scholten of Michigan and Greg Casar of Texas all attended the concert.

However, the list provided by the Hill was relatively different with Democratic Sens. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Patty Murray of Washington, and Jack Reed of Rhode Island also being there along with a number of their Republican colleagues.

During the event, Mitchell performed a number of her hit songs. Other artists also performed during the event including Graham Nash, James Taylor, Ledisi, Cyndi Lauper, Herbie Hancock, Marcus Mumford, and Brandi Carlile.

At the same time during his speech, Biden stated that they would be banning assault weapons “come hell or high water.” As he noted he knew that this statement made some lawmakers uncomfortable, but he also claimed that when they had previously banned them the number of deaths had decreased dramatically.
